Futures Film School

Futures Film School was a development programme run by Sheffield Futures in partnership with Surge Films, designed to give young and emerging filmmakers hands-on experience in short film production. The programme offered participants the opportunity to develop an original idea from concept to completion, with support through script development, pre-production, filming, and post-production. Alongside practical production time, filmmakers received mentoring from industry professionals, access to equipment and resources, and guidance on working collaboratively within a real-world production environment. The aim of Futures Film School was to build confidence, technical skills, and creative voice, while helping participants take a meaningful step toward careers in film and media.
